From: Inhibition of MMP-2 and MMP-9 activities by solvent-partitioned Sargassum horneri extracts
Effect of 5 (a) and 50 μg/ml (b) solvent-partitioned S. horneri extracts (SHEs) on enzymatic activity of MMP-2 and MMP-9. Cells were treated with phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA; 10 ng/ml) to enhance MMP expression prior to treatment. Enzymatic activities of MMP-2 and MMP-9 from SHE-treated cell culture medium were tested by gelatin zymography. Band sizes of multiple assays (n = 3) were calculated and depicted as percentage against the PMA-stimulated untreated control group. Means with the different letters are significantly different (p < 0.05) by Duncan’s multiple range test
